This week’s video is Frank explaining how and why we are going to take down the stone façade on the front of the Mooreland House. We also have an addition to the Mooreland House family!

Frank did a great job drawing/explaining the entire area. I kept making faces when he talked about the precarious position this area is in with basically one brick holding it up. I don’t know if you all agree but this seems to be the most daunting job to date and that says a lot if you look back at all you have accomplished.

Yes! We did not plan to take down any of the large stone facades. Some of these stones weigh up to 600 pounds. We are just taking it one day at a time though. It is just something that has to be done.

I’m amazed over and over again that Miss Mooreland is still standing. There seem to be so many area’s that were/are hanging by a thread. She was holding on for dear life just waiting for you guys to save her.

Yes! We feel the same way. Better to take some of it down in a controlled way than waiting to see if it falls.

I will add my thanks for the detailed explanation. Drawings are always helpful. I have been amazed at the tasks you’ve been willing to take on up to this point. You both have an abundance of courage, determination and know how to have accomplished so much up to this point. I honestly thought this stone facade project would have you calling, “uncle”. Then I saw “Bertha”. Obviously you would not be spending that kind of money unless the equipment was going to be used to take on the daunting project. The word “faith” keeps coming to mind. Please stay safe and know that many more than you may know appreciate your efforts.

Yes, we are serious about putting her all back together. We warned the great granddaughter that we were going to have to take down the stone façade because we didn’t want her to be worried that we were biting off more than we could chew. This is our passion and we love doing it. We are glad that people trust us to make it right.

Thanks Cindy… we just try to do what needs to be done. We can’t imagine how they did this without a Bertha!
