Happy Monday! We wanted to share the only other existing mantle picture that we have. This dining room picture is from the realtor site around 2007. It looks like it was dark oak. The opening for the fireplace is 42 inches wide and 36 inches tall. Interesting note… the rug in the picture is still there in the dining room. It is in pretty bad shape though.

At least you have a visual record. Somehow I feel confident that you will acquire a replacement mantel that will be close to the original. Perhaps you can find a rug with the same colors and similar pattern if the one you have is too far gone.

We are hoping that as more people share the website and YouTube that we will run across someone that has more pictures. We are not sure what the rest of them looked like.

Did the previous owners strip some of these items or did people just wander in after it was unoccupied and take what they wanted? I know you’ve said many of the paintings were sold.

There was no vandalism or stealing. Everything removed was done by the owners at the time.

it’s amazing to me how the house came to be in such disrepair in 13 short years if the realtors picture was indeed 2007.

Yes. We are pretty sure most of the problems were there already. Probably why it didn’t sell.

Is it ripped? Check with a rug cleaning company that hand washes oriental rugs. You would be amazing how they can clean them. Wore areas on rugs are ok.

Very sad, however on a positive note, she has new owners who love her. I am living my dream of owning an old mansion through you. It’s been much less expensive for me and a lot less headaches. Sorry I couldn’t resist that last sentence. Thank you for taking her on and wishing you both a very Merry Christmas.
