Ever since we purchased the Mooreland House back in May we have been seeing different things involving the house throughout recent history. One of the pictures that kept coming up was of the front of the house with awnings and the American flag. Another was a postcard picture with striped awnings on the front. We were finally able to procure both the book and the magazine that the pictures came from. We thought we would share.

It looks so different from one picture to the next. I’m partial to it without any awnings though.

Yes, we like it better without the awnings as well. They probably did keep the house much cooler in the summer though.

    Very interesting. Thanks for sharing.

Seeing the picture of the children made me wonder, we haven’t heard from Susan, the granddaughter or great-granddaughter of the Moore’s in a while. At least not on social media. Do you know, is she ok?

The picture with the family are Susan’s mother and older siblings. Susan posted a Christmas message on the Mooreland House facebook page. She is actively posting on her own facebook page so we are certain that she is doing well.

Beautiful! The awnings do give it a different look. What is the building to the left of the entrance? I do not remember seeing it there now.

We think it was a carriage house or just a barn. It is not there now.
