Vitamin D

What a beautiful day in central Kentucky! It was 40 degrees, no wind and the sun was shining brightly! We had to get outside and clean up some brush and trees at the back property line of the Mooreland House. We took before and after pictures but… you can’t really tell we did anything. We felt pretty good about it though. We have never seen so many vines in our lives.

Yes! It has been good to actually accomplish something, no matter how small. Sometimes it is the little victories.

Was definitely warmer outside than inside the Mooreland House today.

I’m sure it felt good just to be in the sun! I had two grocery workers tell me today that customers seem to be happier when the sun is shining. Plus, today’s task was much easier to tackle than the mortar project. Even though we might not be able to see the change, you know what you accomplished which is all that matters.

We had to clear out decades of over grown vines that were suffocating the large trees ( 15′ x 100′ area cleared). We had to get them out of the trees and cut them out at the ground so the trees didn’t die and cause more problems since they are so large. I also used a natural weed and grass killer so there was no harm to the abundance of the wildlife. It worked GREAT!

So far we have been just pulling the vines out of the ground. There are tons of them though. We plan on using mulch to suffocate them and keep them from growing back once they are gone. What was the killer you used?

such a great looking day and accomplishment. It helps to see and hear these on days when winter takes it out on us.
