We think we have removed enough of the loose bricks. We now need to start the process of building this area back up. One disadvantage of the lime mortar is how long it takes to set up. With the cold weather it will take a few days before we can put weight on the newly placed bricks. We will find out how long it takes together. =)
A few bricks reinstalled
The newly installed bricks look nice! You can add masonry to your talents now! Great job!

We are fairly certain that we will be masonry experts by the time we are done with the Mooreland House. Not sure that we will start a new career in it when we are finished though. =)

Just wondering if you know what they used to make the mortar on the exterior pink?

We don’t know for sure. We are going to try to mix red brick dust into the mortar to see if that is what they used. The lime mortar we are using is almost white compared to cement mortar that is gray. There isn’t any original pink mortar left on the house. The color that is on the house now is a special mix that was put on in the early 2000s when the front portico was rebuilt after it fell down.
