Once again, we found an area that was worse than we thought. We kept going down the roof taking off slate until we found some that was sound. Along the way we found that what looked like solid roof decking was really a rotted out mess. This wasn’t in the plans to do yet. Well, who are we kidding, this is why we don’t make plans.
It has been my experience that a house, especially an old one will dictate the order in which tasks are completed. Ahhhh! I guess you just have to go with it.

Yes, that is our experience as well. It is very clear now that this area needed fixed next…

Yep, she definitely let us know we needed to fix a hole in the roof. =)

Does this make you wonder about the other areas under the slate? Thankful this was identified and could be repaired by the dynamic duo!

Unfortunately, this is one of the areas that had been “repaired”. It must have been in pretty bad shape when they worked on it and then they didn’t quite do the repairs correctly so it continued to deteriorate. Yes, the “dynamic duo” is on it and will get it fixed correctly. =)
