Forms are off now but we still need the last 2 inch concrete pour to cure a bit longer. The 2×6 boards sticking out of the wall are to attach the box gutter and crown molding to. We are excited to get to the dormer stones. The first couple are pretty heavy. Good thing Bertha has been working out.

Bricked to the Top
The brickwork is done up to the top of the wall that will support the dormer facade. We are concentrating on this area so we can get the facade up before winter weather. We poured a small concrete cap between the top bricks so we have a solid foundation for the huge stones that are next.
Frank Makes Rock
We made it to another weekly video. We realized we should have more footage of Kerry. Apologies in advance that you have to look at Frank almost the entire video. It is interesting how simple it is to make a chunk of limestone into something with eye catching detail. Thanks for making last week’s video one of our most watched. Without some of you getting these out there on social media, we wouldn’t have much of a following.
Faux Wood
Well, it isn’t really fake wood. We have the brick work done up to the point of the faux wood plate and standouts that resemble the other walls in the attic. The mortar joints are rough and untooled on purpose. We are trying to replicate the finish on the bricks throughout the attic. In the second picture, the new brickwork is on the left wall and the original is on the right.
No Obstacles
We pulled off the interior concrete forms. Now there is nothing in the way of completing the brick job. Course by course we will make this wall look like it did when they built it. It’s just a little stronger though with the 10 inch concrete wall behind it.
Slow Brick Work
Now that we have the concrete poured, we have to make the new wall look like it has always been there. The way we are going to do it is by making a brick facade. We got a pretty good start to it. We have to let the concrete set up well before we remove the forms anyway. Frank is learning a lot about laying brick!
Last Wall Pour!
We finally poured concrete to the top of the front wall. We now have a lot of brick work to do and then we can start on the dormer. We are excited to be at the top! It has been a journey. We know a lot more about stonework now and are ready to tackle the huge rocks on the dormer facade.
Pillars are IN!
We got the final pillars in for the second floor windows. We also put up more stones for the middle column. There is quite a bit of information about what we are doing in this video. Thanks for watching and remember to share it on your social media accounts. That is a really nice way to support our project.
Forms are Reset
We moved the forms up and are ready for the next batch of concrete. We have standouts going through the forms to attach the box gutter and crown molding to. The standouts will be encased in the concrete. This is the last big pour! We are 2 inches from the top of the wall.
Concrete is Solid.
It looks like the pour went well. No big voids or anything. We now have to reset the forms and do it all again. Rinse and repeat.
