Good morning everyone! Kerry has put together a video this week that shows some of the difficulty we are encountering while we put the galvanized crown molding back on the Mooreland House. We really liked the finished look it gave to the top of the limestone wall. Hopefully something in this video will make you smile today and you will pass on those good feelings to someone else.
Hello. As a question of curiosity and as someone with no knowledge of construction, is it usual to cement in crown moulding? Can the tin be repaired with soldering? It seems very fragile but it has lasted for more than a century! It was a fun video as always and I do talk you up to all my social contacts. I see the channel growing slowly but steadily! 😀 Thanks for sharing.

We have been working at a solution to the tin. It was originally soldered but as you see around the Mooreland House, the solder didn’t hold very well. The metal for the crown molding will be sandwiched between the concrete blocks and the stone wall and then filled in with lime mortar. It is just the 2 inch tab at the bottom that will be into the wall.

Thanks! We spend a lot of time researching about these things before we begin.
