We aren’t sure what to call this stone but it is now part of the Mooreland House again. For now we will just call it a cross tie stone. This stone will be the base for the carved triangle. Winter weather is back for a couple days. We expect 3 inches of snow and overnight temperatures of 14 degrees fahrenheit for Friday night and Saturday morning. We will be back at it on Monday though.

The detail in the stonework is amazing. I wonder if the stonecutters placed the stones where they fit or drew a design and cut the stones to match the design. I can understand why there doesn’t seem to be many stone houses built where I live today!

We are pretty sure they just took a stone that was close and then shaped it to fit. It was definitely easier to shape the stones with an electric grinder. =)

So close! It must be frustrating to have to stop but enjoy your weekend off!

We still do the little things that go along with old house ownership. We don’t really post that kind of stuff much. =)

She’s looking good. Do you have a plan of what project you are going to tackle once the stones are done?

We haven’t decided on a big project yet. In the short term, we are going to tackle a few of the “small” leaks that we still have.
