Drumroll please… the next project is storm cleanup. We lost a huge part of one of the Osage Orange trees in the front yard. Thankfully it didn’t hit anything. We lost a few windows and a few slates off the roof. It must have been a very strong wind. Funny that we spent all this time trying to figure out what to do next and then it just falls in our lap.

Oh my! At least the tree didn’t go flying! God always answers our prayers…even when it wasn’t one of our choices!

The tree couldn’t have landed in a better place. It is really just laying in the driveway. Didn’t even touch the lamp pedestals or break the sidewalk.

Glad you made it through okay!

Yes, just a little cleanup and roof patches.

This reminds me of the first couple months you worked on Mooreland. The beginning of the day you would post the project for the day, and by the end of the day you had to do four other projects instead.

A day of tree work good time to remove the old rotten heart maple in the way of the side dormer all the chainsaw and brush clean up out of the way at once. A day of roof patching. Than on to support work on the kitchen porch roof for a few days. Just a whole variety of challenges for the next couple weeks. Maybe by the time this is done you can put up temp support walls to take down the dormers and the boom extension will arrive. You are both amazing and this beautiful house is getting the love and care it deserves.

Wow! At that rate, we will be completely done with the Mooreland House by the end of the summer. =) The day of roof patching might be today though. Rain is always of the horizon.

I think being done by end of summer is wishful thinking on your part. I was just saying that the storm damage won’t take weeks to clean up before you can get back to your stabilization projects. If I sounded pushy in anyway far from I am amazed at what you have accomplished. Love that you are both so positive and are saving this beautiful building.

No, we appreciate your comments. We will have all the dormers taken down by then, not sure if we will have one put back up. Sometimes we struggle with trying to keep the Mooreland House looking halfway decent while we save her. Taking two dormers down at once with tacky housewrap covering them is tough to think about for the neighbors and people that have to drive by every day and see her.

So God DOES have a sense of humor. He watched your “next project” videos then said “Oh yeah, watch this. Here’s your next project”. 😉
